Biography:
Kenneth Gunn was educated at Knowepark Primary School in Selkirk
and Selkirk High School before going on to Heriot-Watt and later
Stevenson College in Edinburgh. He worked most of his life in the
newspaper and publishing industry with a few years out in the
insurance and financial services sector.
Deeply interested in local affairs, Kenneth stood for Borders Regional
Council in the past and was, until elected, the chairman of the
Royal Burgh of Selkirk and District Community Council.
Away from the political scene Kenneth's interests are in music. A
former member of Selkirk Silver Band which he served as secretary
for fifteen years and also a former member of Selkirk Amateur
Operatic Society. Sought as a singer throughout the Borders for
Burns Suppers and Scots nights, he is also a member of the Hawick
P.S.A. Male Voice Choir and serves on the committee of the choir
which celebrates its 75th anniversary this year. He also loves hill
walking and anything which "takes me out into the beautiful
Border hills"
Married to Wilma and with one surviving son, Douglas, who works
in the Middle East. He helps Wilma in her work with Scottish HART
the charity she and some friends set up to get young sports people
and families at risk screened for the heart condition cardiomyopathy
which claimed the life of their elder son Cameron.
