Our Vision for Scotland's Future
Our vision for Scotland is a lot more than about economic growth.
Our vision is of a successful social democratic nation, which is not
just positive about wealth creation, but is also committed to
ensuring that all of Scotland's citizens share in the benefits of
that wealth. That is why we argue for progressive policies, like
replacing the discredited council tax, which hits the poor hardest,
with a local income tax based on ability to pay, and for a universal
citizen's pension to provide all pensioners with a decent minimum
income at retirement and remove the need for means testing.
Independence is all about equality. It is about having the same
rights and the same responsibilities as other nations. The right to
choose between war and peace, the right to choose between stagnation
and economic progress, and the right to choose a government which
reflects our values.
