Local papers tend to provide only limited opportunities for new candidates of all parties to get a word in edgeways.  Consciously or sub-consciously editorial teams tend to reward incumbents e.g. weekly columns for MSPs and MPs in their papers, but nothing for their opponents. There is no point crying over that - just the way of the World.  However, the letters pages of the same papers, aside from allowing members of the public their say, provide a good opportunity for the SNP to communicate with local residents about the issues that concern them.
